"Journey" the Rocket

- Why: I am a part of UCLA Rocket Project and was fortunate enough to be able to be given the materials to build my own level 1 rocket in order to get my certification -- and besides, who doesn't love rockets??
- Launch: Journey's Launch
- Description: It took a span of 8 weeks, and about 40 hours of manual labor to create Journey. Before making the the rocket, I knew absolutely nothing about rocketry. I modeled my rocket through a program called Open Rocket, which fortunately calculated most of the vital data for me (center of gravity, etc). After that, I used machine shop tools such as the bandsaw, glue, drills, and many more in order to put together the components for the rocket. After finishing the build, I gained invaluable experience such as knowledge of how rockets fly, components of a rocket, and how to launch and safely recover a rocket.
